Why FaST EID?

Using Electronic Identification (EID) for samples is the safest and easiest way to reduce human error in your records.  No more

handwritten notes to decipher later in the lab. FaST EID has up to 22 customizable fields with custom headers. All of the prompts are user definable, meaning that you use terms that make sense for your operation. Save your settings, one for crop sampling, one for soil or water sampling or what you want. Each field also allows you to have pre-programmed “drop down” selections so that you don’t have to type on the spot. Drop down a selection list of your creation, tap on the selection then on to the next sample. All your information is already formatted as an excel style spread sheet, ready to be saved, sent, printed, or whatever else you may need to do with it.

Reliable Hardware

The Archer and Mesa are the two main paltforms we use to run FaST EID. It is imperitive to have hardware that can take at least take as much as you can. With the Archer or the Mesa by your side, you have a system that can take even more than you can. They are drop proof and waterproof out of the box. They will work as long and as hard as you can, and if the 8 hour battery life isn't enough, you can easily swap batteries in the field, and keep working. There is no fear of losing data, because even if the battery runs out before you have time to save, all of the data is stored in protected memory. Just swap the battery and keep going.

GPS Location

The archer and the Mesa both have integrated GPS options that work with FaST EID so that a Location Stamp can be placed on your samples so that you can tell exactly where the sample was taken.

Easy Sample Marking

Besides handwritten notes, the next worst thing are handwritten labels, especially when the sample is wet. The Zebra wireless bar code label printer is the tool for the job. You can print out bar code labels that will stick to almost anything, wet or not. Each bar code is unique, so when you need to identify your sample, simply scan the bar code, and FaSt EID will bring up all the information in the database on that particular sample (i.e. date, time, location, type, name, etc.)
