Electronic identification is becoming more streamline and effective for both livestock managers and veterinarians.  Electronic animal management allows the user to quickly identify an animal of interest and link important health information on the spot.  Software is now portable and reliable and can assist in record management for invoicing and providing key data to the producer to assist in animal health management.

Disease Testing

Disease testing is becoming more prevalent and the USDA has provided specific disease software programs for testing livestock.  However, these programs have restricted use which limits the potential for electronic management outside of disease testing.  FaST EID is a versatile software program that can be utilized for all instances of general practice or disease testing.  This program is fully customizable and allows the user to define the information being collected for each testing situation.  The software also includes a unique interface for reading body temperature from the LifeChip Biothermo microchip from Destron Fearing.  Simply read the microchip with the Destron DTR-4 reader and the electronic identification number and animal temperature populate set fields on the data input screen.  The user can then associate multiple fields of information relevant to treatment or records.  The program is not species specific so the user can scan any combination of livestock species using the same program.

Label Printing

The software program connects to a rugged (IP-54) label printer from Zebra.  The electronic identification number automatically prints in barcode and numerical format in the bottom center of the label.  The user can also designate four (4) additional fields of information to print on the label (Visual ID, Bangs Tag Number, etc.).

Report Printing

The software can also be configured to print reports directly from the hand held PC.  Simply select the report file or the current scanning session and select print from the report page of FaST EID and the report prints wirelessly (Bluetooth).  The print out looks very similar to an Excel spreadsheet with column headers and and rows but we have also included a signature line at the bottom of each page and can quickly incorporate a black and white company logo in the top header margin of the page.
