Video Demonstrations
Long Range EID Management
Demonstrational video of the long range FaST TAG and FaST TRACK software being used to count a group of animals and locate an animal of interest. The FaST TAG allows for the user to read the tags out to 1/2 mile (line of sight). In this instance cow #505 is of interest because she recently became heavy and is near term on calving. The animal list included 90 head and all animals were accounted for within seconds of turning the system on.
Semen Collection and Management
ORIgen Inc. utilizes the Archer and FaST EID to accurately collect and transfer semen to semen straws. The system allows for an inventory stud list to be loaded to the Archer in the FaST EID software program. The tag is scanned by the collector which references the stud information and provides a barcoded label that is applied to the collection. The label includes the stud EID number and stud code that is then read into the Bulls Eye software. Seamless collection system that eliminates transcription errors.
Tagging Elk for Disease Monitoring
The video demonstrates the application of the FaST TAG (active EID ear tag) and passive EID ear tags in elk. The EID tags are in use to help in monitoring for Chronic Wasting Disease in captive elk herds. The study is cooperation with private cervid operations and the Utah Department of Agriculture. The use of the FaST TAG assists health officials in effectively identifying individual animals from a distance up to 1/2 mile.
PVP Age and Source Verification
This video demonstrates the use of the hand held PC (Archer) with an integrated (built in) reader. The software is FaST EID for which they are scanning the EID and linking calf information in accordance with the Tri-Merit Process Verified Program (PVP). The calves were sold via Superior Livestock under Age and Source - VAC 35.
Processing Feeder Steers and Replacement Heifers
This video demonstrates the use of the hand held PC (Archer), FaST EID Software and the use of Destron Fearing e.Tags. The Archer is connected via Bluetooth to the ID-ology wand reader and the Zebra RW-220 label printer. The user has loaded a reference database (Excel Spreadsheet) with the animal data, when the animal EID is scanned the hand held pulls the information for each animal up on the screen and the user records any new information on that animal (Vaccine, Treatments.... etc.). When the user hits Save Animal, the label printer automatically prints a 2x1 inch label that is placed on the tubes for which an ear notch is collected for PI testing (BVD). The label includes 4 fields of user selected information and the EID number barcode. TOP
Wildlife Research
This video demonstrates the use of the hand held PC (Archer) and FaST EID software. The Archer is serial (RS-232) connected to the Destron Brick Reader and an 8 foot custom pole reader. The animals are microchipped with a Destron Fearing LifeChip at the base of the ear. The user has loaded an reference database to the hand held that contains animal information, when the microchip is scanned by the pole reader the information on each animal is displayed on the screen. At the chute animals are being chipped and disease tested based on the information that was previously loaded to the hand held. The hand held is also Bluetooth connected to Zebra RW-220 label printer that is providing barcoded labels for the collected samples. TOP
Multi-Species Scanning
This video is a combination of the National Western Stock Show and State/County Fairs in Colorado. This demonstrates the use of the hand held PC (Archer) and FaST EID software in a multi-species event. The user has loaded a reference database of all the animals and owner information prior to the show. The user is recording weight information and printing out a barcode for the animals paper record. The information from the hand held is then loaded to the back end database. TOP
Portable Panel Reader System
Panel readers can be a very effective tool for capturing electronic identification during off-loading, on-loading cattle or in condensed alley systems. This video demonstrates the use of portable panel system installed for reading age and source verified cattle at shipping. The Destron panel reader and Axiz SB-1 is connected serial to the Archer and FaST EID system. The user preloaded an Excel spreadsheet with the calves data linked to the EID tag. The panel reader and Axiz serve to capture the EID and pass it to the Archer which filters out duplicate reads and pulls the information for each calf as they pass through the loading chute. The information generates an inventory report that tells them which animals loaded the truck and which animals didn't make the cut. This operation links the Visual ID (Bangle Tag) to the Dam so the data provides instant feedback of which cows are paying the bills.
