This section contains all general help/support needed for Blue tooth Connection. The help sections for each of our mobile platforms are on the tabs below.

Archer 1

These are the instructions for pairing any device with Windows mobile 6

1)From the Today Screen, tap on the Start Menu and then tap on Settings.

2) From Settings, tap on the Connections tab, and then tap on Bluetooth.

3) Tap on Add new device, and wait for a new screen.

4) Wait while the Hand Held searches for active Bluetooth devices in the area. Then tap on the desired device to select it. Then tap on Next.  Note: If your device does not appear on the list, make sure that it is powered on and that the Bluetooth is enabled. Then tap on Refresh.

Then Tap on Next

5) The Hand Held will ask you for a Pass Code, Leave it blank and select next.

Note: Some devices need pass codes, if you were unsuccessful with step 5 above then consider the devices and corresponding pass codes listed below. Insert the pass code by bringing up the keyboard and then select next. If the device does not appear below & leaving the password blank does not work, then contact us here at Fort Supply.

6) A screen will appear and ask to add the device to the “device list”. DO NOT TAP ON YES! Tap on no.

7) Now tap on Advanced, then tap on the box to select Serial Port. Then tap on Save.

8) Now back on the devices page, tap on the Mode tab, then make sure that BOTH Boxes are checked.

9) Tap on the COM Ports tab, then tap on “New Outgoing Port”.

10) Make sure that the new device is highlighted, then tap on Next.

11) Now select COM 9 (or if COM 9 has previously been assigned, select the highest available COM port) Then tap on Finish. NOTE: Make sure that the “Secure Connection” box is NOT checked! It will not work if it is!

When it goes back to the COM Ports screen, the added device Should now be listed.

 

Now the device needs to be configured with FaST EID. Please use the tabs above to see how to see how to pair with each individual device.

Bluetooth 101 pairing instructions

1) From the Today screen simply select the settings icon. if it is not on the today screen select the window icon and then select the settings icon from the list of programs.

2) Once in the Settings section select the Connections icon.

3) Once in Connections select Bluetooth 101.

4)  The Device list should be empty and all the Bluetooth 101 settings should all be checked. Tap on the corners to switch between the two screens.

5) On the Device List page select Discover Devices while the desired device is on and ready to be paired. Once the device has been found on the Archer simply select it and say Connect.

The Device is now ready to be assigned in a program like FaST EID or FaST Brand Auction.

This page shows how to set up a Tru-Test ID3000 series scale head with FaST EID.  A similar setup will work for all 3000 series scale heads. This setup works with both Windows Mobile 5 and Windows Mobile 6 operating systems.

Turn on Scale Head Feature

First tap on the Tools menu. Then Tap on the Special sub menu. Then select Scale Head Data Select as shown above.

Configure for Scale Head

For the Tru-Test 3000 series scale heads, configure the screen as shown above. Note that if you are using a cable between the Archer and the scale head, you must use Serial Port COM1. If you use any Bluetooth dongle, then you would use the COM port that you established when you first established a link to the scale head. When complete, press Connect

Example setup for COM4 with Bluetooth dongle

This is an example of what a setup looks like when a Bluetooth dongle is used on COM4. Use the COM port that you established when you paired the Bluetooth dongle to the device. When complete, press Connect.

Successful Setup

After pressing Connect in the previous step, you should get the message as illustrated above. Any other message indicates that there is a problem with the connection. Press OK on the message. Press OK in the top right corner of the screen to take you out of the setup.

If the keyboard is up on your screen, tap on the keyboard icon to shrink it.
Once the keyboard is gone, you should see Weight on the bottom next to the last input box. This is where the weight from the scale will appear.

Bluetooth Dongle Setup

If a NULL modem connector was shipped with your Bluetooth device, please connect the NULL MODEM adapter to the BlueSnap dongle as shown.  Otherwise, you will not need a NULL MODEM connector.

Bottom of Scale Head

On the bottom of the scalehead, identify COM1 and COM2.

Set up the Serial Screen

press the “setup” button and then go to the “serial setup” screen. Set up the Weight Output as illustrated above. Make sure that the Printer Output is set to CON1 and NOT CON2. If you have Bluetooth built into the unit, you can turn it off.

Exit the screen.

Press ESC to return to the front screen. All weight output should appear on the Archer in the FaST EID Weight field.

Weightronix 615

This is how to Configure the weightronix 615 for Continuous Serial Output for use with the Fort Supply FaST EID software custom cable.

   

1. Press the hidden Programing key for five seconds until “6 1 5″ is displayed.

2. Press Setup until  “b r d” is displayed. 

3. Press Print/Select until “O F F” or “o n” is displayed. Press Setup to toggle between the two options and select “o n”.

4. Press Print/Select with the chosen option displayed “b r d” is displayed.

5. Return to the weighing mode by pressing Zero.

 

Avery Weigh-Tronix 640

First Follow these Steps:640 config for FaST EID

1) Open Tools>Special>Scale Head Data

 

2) Make the Settings screen look just like this.

 

EXCEPTIONS: After the page is set up like this, hit rescan ports and then select the port assigned in the Buetooth pairing process, than Tap on Connect. The scale is ready to use.

Gallagher Smart Scale 800

Step #1 Set up the scale head.

1)  Make sure it has power (battery or plug in) 2)  Twist the dial from power off to point to the S (setup) 3)  Press the down arrow until 6. Select Country is visible 4) Press the select button (button 5) 5) If anything other than NZ/AU is selected turn the arrow down until it is and then press OK.  This is needed to enable Ruddweigh mode. 6) Press the up arrow until 5. Communications is showing and press select 7)  The menu on the scale should now show Port 1 and Port 2.  Port 2 should be highlighted, if next to port 2 it says anything other than “RuddWeigh” press the second button (change) until “RuddWeigh shows (Ruddweigh is the scale mode that outputs the weight when queried with a ? ) 8)  Press OK (fifth button) with Port 2 selected. 9) Twist the dial up to the M (manual weigh mode) 10)  Connect a normal, (not null modem) 9 pin serial cable into port 2 of the scale head. 11)  Plug the other end into the archer’s 9 pin serial connection. ( or BT dongle) 12)  Connect a working load bar (or actual scales) up to the scale head to enable testing.

Step #2 Enabling FaST EID to take weights from the scale head

1) Start FaST EID 2) Go to the data input tab. 3)  Go to Tools->Special->Scale Head Data Select Menu item.

4) Check the “Use Scale Head Feature” if it is not checked.  Select the SmartScale 800 scale.  (if a popup window comes up, simply press okay).

5) Set the port to Com 1 or the port that the user has set for the scale head in the pairing process, baud rate to 9600.  Also the user can press Display Log on the bottom of the screen to get output from the scale directly into this form.

6)  Press the “Connect” Button.  The following should appear:  Press okay if it does.

7)  Press display log at the bottom of the screen to see if the scale head is sending any data. Apply some weight to the load bars and either tap get weight in Fast EID or press the record button on the Gallagher

After wiggling the load bar or applying weight to the scale:

8)  As long as some text appears in the box, it is an indicator that there has been communication between the archer and the scale head.  Now that the scale head is talking, press OK in the top right hand corner of the screen.

The Archer is now ready to read from the Gallagher Smart Scale 800

How to enable the “Freeze” feature on the weight field (field 7)

The following steps will instruct the user on how to enable the “Freeze” feature when using FaST EID with a scale head. The Freeze feature activates a button next to the weight field that, once weight fluctuation stabilizes, can be tapped on to stop fluctuation until the unit is saved. On save the field will begin to read active data from the scale head again.

1) Once in FaST EID, tap the Tools tab, then on Special. On the sub menu tap on “Scale Head Data Select”

2) Now from the Scale Head Setup screen, tap the check box labeled “Enable Freeze”.

NOTE: Make sure that the box labeled”Use Scale Head Feature” is also checked or none of the Scale Head Features will function.

Freeze is now enabled. The Button location is to the left of the weight field (field 8).

This set of instructions is meant to show step-by-step how to set up a Zebra RW220 Label Printer with FaST EID

Start on the today Screen

Start FaST EID

Select Start:FaST EID to open FaST EID.

Options Tab

When you are in FaST EID, the opening screen will look like this. You can perform the following steps from any screen or tab in FaST EID.

Configure Printer

Tap on Tools and then Print Options and then Configure Barcode Printer.

Default Screen

Select the port that you assigned the printer to above, make sure the Baud Rate is 19200, and then tap Save and Close Settings. If your port does not show up in the list, tap ReScan Ports first.

Configure Printer

If you want the printer to print a label automatically after each tag is scanned and saved, Tap Tools, Print Options and then tap on Continuous. This will ensure that a label is printed each time.

Setting up a PocketJet3 Plus Printer with FaST EID

1) From the Today Screen, drop down the start menu and tap on FaST EID.

2) At the bottom of the screen select tools and then preferences.

3) First tap on rescan all ports.

4) Then Select the COM Port that was assigned in step three in the previous set of instructions.

5) Make sure the baud Rate is set to 9600.

6) Enter a nickname for the wand, such as “Allflex” or “XRS”.

7)  Tap on Connect/Name. A box will appear to notify the user that the wand was successfully assigned to the serial port. Tap on “OK” to close the box

Note:If the wand is turned off, this will appear instead.

Tap on “OK” then make sure your wand is turned on, then try hitting connect again.

8) Tap on “OK” in the upper right hand corner. Go to the “options” screen and tap on “Bluetooth”. It should say “Connected: then the nickname that was assigned in step 6.

If the wand is not powered on the Archer will not be able to find it, and it will display the following: “Bluetooth Readers not found”

Ensure that the wand is turned on and then repeat step 8.

Setting up FaST EID with an I.D.Ology Bluetooth Wand

This set of instructions shows step-by-step how to set up an I.D.Ology Bluetooth wand with FaST EID Note that this is a onetime process that must be done with each wand and handheld combination before they are used.

Today Screen–This is the starting point

Start FaST EID

Select Start:FaST EID to open FaST EID.

When you are in FaST EID, the opening screen will look like this. You can perform the following steps from any screen or tab in FaST EID.

Select Preferences

From the Tools Menu, select Preferences.

What the screen looks like

You will see a screen that looks like this. Note that if you have already added other wands, they will show up in the Blue Tooth Wand History window. Proceed to the next step.

Set up the wand information

Configure the wand like this. Note that for the IDOLOGY wand, the Baud Rate is always 9600. The Serial Port should be set to whatever com port you assigned to the wand in the above steps. The Wand nickname can be anything you like such as IDOLOGY or IDOLOGY 1, 2, or 3 etc. or any name you would like to give it. This allows you to have and work with multiple wands if you need to. Once you have this information entered, press “Connect/Name”

Successful connection

When you have a successful connection, this is what will be displayed. Tap OK once the connection is confirmed.

Note that the wand and its port is displayed in the BlueTooth Wand History. Once this shows with the appropriate COM port, tap on OK in the upper right corner.

Connect to the Wand in order to use

At this point your one time configuration of the wand is complete. From now on, anytime you are at this screen, you simply turn the wand on by pressing the green button on the wand and then press Bluetooth on the above screen. FaST EID will then go and look for the wand that is turned on and connect to it.

Wand is Connected

Note the Blue “Connected: idology” notice. This tells you that the wand is connected and ready to us. Change over to the Data Input screen and scan an animal into the field by pressing the button on the wand.

Some devices need pass codes, consider the devices and corresponding pass codes listed below. Insert the pass code by bringing up the keyboard and then select next. If the device does not appear below & leaving the password blank does not work, then contact us here at Fort Supply.

Removing and Adding the “Fort Supply” Network

REMOVE FORT SUPPLY NETWORK

1. Start from the Today of the Archer. At the top right corner there is an icon that looks like a tower with two arrows pointing right and left. Tap on the antenna icon to bring up the ‘Connectivity’ menu. From this menu tap on the Wireless Manager.

2. On the Wireless Manager menu you should see the wireless network you are connected to. If the network bar is gray and says ‘off’ then simply tap on the bar to turn it on. If the network is on then select the Menu from the bottom right section. From this menu select the Wireless Manager.

3. Find the FortSupply network on the list of networks and tap on it to select it. Once the network is selected tap and hold the stylus to the screen on the network. This will load the menu to remove the network. Once the menu show up simply tap on “Remove Settings” to remove the network.

ADDING FORT SUPPLY NETWORK

1. Again we will start from the wireless network screen. For instructions on how to reach this screen see step 1 and 2.

2. The FortSupply network should not be on the network list. Tap on the add new option at the top of the list to go through the network setup.

3. The network name need to be exactly “FortSupply” with no space and a capital ‘F’ and ‘S’. the rest of the settings should be exactly as shown below. After the name and settings are in place then hit next.

4. The Authentication is Open, the Data Encryption is WEP. The checkbox for the key should be Unchecked. The network key is defcadefca exactly. No capitals or spaces. Once all these are in place then hit Next.

5. The last screen make sure the IEEE is unchecked and then hit Finnish.

6. The network should be at the top of the network list now and should say “available” next to it. Simply tap on the FortSupply network, and then tap on Connect in the bottom left hand corner. Once the network says “connected to it then the process is finished and the archer is connected.
